MOVITE is undergoing some significant changes this year. This Journal is one example where we are now providing the MOVITE Journal in an electron format. We may also see electronic ballots and much of our communication is now done through the web and e-mail.

Speaking of the web site, it too will be updated this year to make it more current and informative. I encourage you to regularly check the website www.movite.org for updates and the most current information.

The MOVITE Board is considering some changes to the MOVITE Leadership structure to provide opportunities for more professionals to serve. Any proposed changes will require the approval of the membership and there will be more information about any proposed changes available soon.

The reason for the changes are several-fold… the MOVITE Board is constantly looking for ways to improve information dissemination, contain costs and be more responsive to the needs of the profession. In addition, we are always looking for ways to get more people involved with local chapters, MOVITE, and ITE.

MOVITE has more than 600 members and affiliates but not everyone makes the effort to get involved. As a MOVITE member, you have some responsibility to support our profession. For 2007, please plan on these minimum steps to support the transportation profession.

  • Attend a local chapter meeting.
  • Attend the MOVITE/Midwestern District Meeting in St. Louis, MO June 13-15
  • Attend the Annual Meeting in Des Moines, IA September 26-28
  • Contact the Student Chapter in your area and ask them how you cane help them out.
  • Contact at least one MOVITE Board Member and tell them your opinions on our organization and our profession.
  • Invite a colleague to attend/get involved in a professional organization.

For additional ways to get involved, please contact any of the MOVITE Board members or call me directly.

Sincerely,

Doug Ripley
2007 MOVITE President
