LOCATE has had a great start to its second year as a Chapter of MOVITE. The Chapter continues to support a large and diverse membership. As of June 2007, the Chapter had 100 members, which included 56 ITE members, 38 Affiliate members and six student members. The year’s first general membership meeting was held on January 10 th in Lincoln, NE. As usual, we enjoyed the opportunity to incorporate a good meal into our meetings, so Valentino’s was the venue of choice to satisfy our appetites. After “feeding our faces” we enjoyed hearing from Roger Severin about the Vision 2015 initiative that is getting some momentum in Lincoln. On March 14 th, a very informative tour was organized. Our membership was able to tour the new NDOR District 2 Operations Center. Construction on the new center was just completed within the last year. NDOR and its partners are actively getting the many components of the center on-line and operational. LOCATE thanks Steve Garbe for his help in organizing this tour. In June we held our 2 nd Annual Golf Outing, which was attended by about 43 participants. The event was held at Tara Hills in Papillion, NE. We could not have asked for better weather for the event. The next meeting will be held on July 11 th in Council Bluffs, with John Carns (IDOT) as our guest speaker discussing the latest on the I-80/29 project in Council Bluffs. LOCATE continues to support the professional development of the membership. On February 9 th and 13 th, LOCATE sponsored an Access Control web seminar. About 22 members took advantage of this learning opportunity, which was held at Lamp, Rynearson and Associates in Omaha, NE. We continue to look for ways to support our membership and make LOCATE the organization of choice for networking and advancement of our profession. Mark Pohlmann
