If you missed our joint meeting with the Midwestern District in June, you missed a great meeting. The St. Louis meeting had an exceptional program and a lot of fun activities including a riverboat cruise. I would like to thank everyone involved with that meeting for their hard work in putting together such a successful event. Please mark your calendars for the fall meeting that will be held in West Des Moines, IA September 26-28, 2007. It too will be a great meeting that you do not want to miss. As you have probably noticed, MOVITE is undergoing some significant changes this year. In addition to the electronic journal, ballots, and communication efforts at the June Board Meeting, your MOVITE Board approved a plan in concept to re-organize the structure of the Board to allow more participation and additional opportunities to get involved in the leadership of your organization. The proposal includes the creation of six positions, 1 from each member state, that will serve two year terms and act as a liaison for each state as well as be a voting member of the board. These state positions will replace the current affiliate board positions as well as two of the Director positions. The purpose is to provide a more direct link to each state and to encourage more people to get involved by having a shorter term of service if desired. More information about the proposed re-organization and specific by-law changes will be sent out to you for review soon. As always, I encourage you to get involved. For 2007, please plan on these minimum steps to support the transportation profession.
