2008 Annual Meeting - Omaha, NE
The 2008 Annual Meetings was deemed a success as over 180 transportation professionals attended activities over the three days of tours, technical exhibits, presentations, and social events. Technical sessions were accompanied by great networking opportunities through social activities related to the River City Roundup events in downtown Omaha. The award ceremony was well attended to honor those MOVITE members that have gone above and beyond their typical daily routines to make contributions to MOVITE and the transportation field in general. Some of the meeting highlights are shown below.

Wednesday, September 24
MOVITE members that came early to the conference were treated to some great opportunities on Wednesday! Activities included a technical workshop, two local tours, a golf tournament and the MOVITE Board meeting. |

Thursday, September 25
Thursday started the main portion of the conference with an opening welcome from the Mayor of Omaha, Mike Fahey, and MOVITE president Matt Selinger. John Havana of Union Pacific presented the keynote address. The day included a chance to attend four separate technical sessions ranging in topics from truck only lanes to pedestrian bridges. The day included a communications speaker over lunch and ended with the Annual Meeting Award ceremony in which many awards were given out.
At the end of the day, MOVITE members had the opportunity to attend dinner at a VIP tent before attending the rodeo and concert at the Quest center as part of River City Roundup activities! |

Friday, September 26
Friday began with the Past President's Breakfast. This included an address from Earl Newman, a past president of International ITE, who is also a MOVITE past president and active in promoting MOVITE activities. Friday also included two technical sessions with great presentations from MOVITE members. The half day ended with final remarks from President Matt Selinger including a presentation from LOCATE members regarding their Making a Difference (MAD) campaign, which involves presentations to high school students regarding safe driving behavior. |

Kathleen Deitering volunteered to walk the line while wearing the vision-impaired goggles used during LOCATE section presentations to high school students about using better driving behaviors. Matt Kruse along with Mark Meisinger discussed the presentations they and other LOCATE members have given to high school students within the LOCATE area during the final session Friday. |
